During 2015, we leveraged our technical and operational expertise in the Gulf of Mexico and expanded our acreage position into two shallow water exploration blocks off the coast of Mexico.

    Talos Energy reached a deal to acquire 16 producing properties held by affiliates of Castex Energy 2005 for $65 million, which is controlled by first lien lenders following that firms bankruptcy in 2018. The deal includes proved reserves of 17.6 MMboe and daily production of 6.4 Mboe/d (15% oil, 85% gas.) Talos will fund the deal by issuing 4.95 million common shares and paying $6.5 million in cash. Closing is expected in the third quarter of 2020.

    The purchase price was $52 million and, as part of this acquisition, Talos negotiated the release of approximately $77 million of cash collateral that had secured Whistler's surety bonds that the Company will not need to replace. As a result, of the total cash collateral released, Talos received $31 million, with the seller entitled to the remaining $46 million. In addition, Talos also benefited from the $7 million available cash balance at Whistler at the time of the close, resulting in a net cash consideration of $14 million to Talos.
