Cross Oil Refining & Marketing, Inc.

Company Summary

Description

In 1922 Sid Umstead drilled a successful oil well on the Smackover Creek in Union County, Arkansas. In a very short time the countryside was spotted with wells and almost overnight, the sleepy little town of Smackover was transformed into a “Boom Town”. The onset of the oil boom inspired Henry H. Cross to build an oil refinery to produce Heavy Fuel Oil for the steel mills near Chicago, Illinois. In 1930, the decision was made to specialize in the refining of napthenic crude oils and Mr. Cross set a course that is unchanged to this day. Cross Oil is a customer-oriented company that supplies base and specialty oils tailored to a specific customer group.
