Westbrook Energy Center

Company Summary

Description

Located in Westbrook, Maine, the Westbrook Energy Center uses two combustion turbines routed to two heat recovery steam generators, which provide steam to one steam turbine. This facility produces enough electric power to meet the needs of more than 500,000 homes throughout New England. The Westbrook Energy Center was among the first of a new generation of power plants to sell competitively priced wholesale electricity into the region’s electric power grid. The creation of this low-cost electricity will keep the area attractive to new business for years to come. Using highly efficient and environmentally friendly combined-cycle technology, the facility has one of the lowest permitted emissions value in the State of Maine. Also, the Westbrook Energy Center has done much to stimulate the local economy by being the largest taxpayer in the city.
